It’s not just the color of the legendary Ditch Witch machines, it’s also what’s inside each and every employee at the Ditch Witch manufacturing factory. That’s because we truly believe in the principles upon which Ed Malzahn founded the company. The same principles that guide each and every decision made today.
Those principles-honesty, hard work, and giving customers the best product in the world-were evident back in 1949, when Ed invented the original trencher. He called this revolutionary product the DWP for Ditch Witch Power. The simple but unique design was a combination of brains and brawn, with an endless conveyor digging chain that could dig a trench up to six inches wide and 30 inches deep, with pure power and relative ease. Together with its compact size and low cost, the DWP launched an entire industry and became the foundation for one of the leading underground construction companies in the world: The Ditch Witch organization.
In the mid-60’s Giff Glover opened the first Ditch Witch dealership in the Southwest area of Texas. Serving as a branch location until 1990 when the dealership sold to Oklahoman Jim K. Smith. Jim K. Smith served 40 years in the Ditch Witch business before selling out to the present owners, brother and sister Dustin Thane and Ashlee Thane Groves. Dustin and Ashlee want to build long lasting relationships with their customers by offering the highest quality products on the market also backed with exceptional customer service.
Today, Ditch Witch Southwest continues to focus on outstanding quality and service at every level of the organization at locations in Lubbock, Odessa and El Paso, TX.
